I've used this for a couple of weeks now, and I'd rate it excellent. The 'intelligent auto' is superb and makes it the best 'point and shoot' camera I've used, and yet the semi-auto functions give it good flexibilty. The image stabilisation works amazingly well - I got a perfectly sharp photo of a heron, taken in overcast conditions about 100 yds away at full 12x zoom: no camera shake visible at all, even blown up to the limit of resolution. The only negative thing about this camera is that you'll need to buy a spare battery because (presumably due to all that computing power) the usage time between charges isn't that good. A minor quibble - it doesn't come with any kind of carrying case.

I debated for a while before purchasing this camera, reading many reviews and pondering the pros and cons. I am pleased to say I am extremely happy with my camera, it is easy to use, takes great photographs and has a fantastic zoom for a compact camera. There are many features to this camera and I am still happily working my way through them to see exactly what it can do. I am really pleased with the LCD screen that can be viewed no matter how bright the surrounding area. I noted that some people have had problems with the mode dial but I have to say this hasn't been an issue with myself and the camera seems very robust. Would recommend to anyone that wants a compact camera with a good zoom.

I have owned the TZ7 for a month now. My previous 3 digital cameras have all been Sony's of one form or another so I was a little apprehensive about changing brand.
I need not have worried as the operation was easy to pick up on. The Intelligent Auto setting is truly amazing - allowing you to take any type of picture from extreme close up to landscape with the camera deciding on the correct settings for the picture. The results are stunning and the colour looks spot on. (I took a really close up picture of a brightly coloured caterpillar on my first day and it is one of the most amazing pictures I have ever taken) The large LCD sreen is great. The zoom has astounded me - compared to my previous digital cameras, the quality of zoom subjects is really good even close to the limit.
There are a number of different settings if you want to over-ride the auto settings but for the majority of the time the camera knows best and unless you are a pro, I think the camera gives more than enough different setting options.
